Thompson Wants More Casino Money for Buffalo
Mike Desmond
BUFFALO
(2006-11-16)
A current member of the Buffalo Common Council and future State Senator says Buffalo should get more revenue from the planned Seneca Buffalo Creek casino.
Council Member Antoine Thompson says under the current deal, the state will get 25 percent of the casino's slot revenue. Twenty-five percent of that will go to the host community. Some have estimated the formula would mean about $5-million for the City of Buffalo.
Thompson says Buffalo deserves more.
"We shouldn't send $65-$100 million to Albany and only get a couple-million-dollars back," Thompson said.
Thompson also wants the City Of Buffalo designating the host community for the casino, not Erie County.
